September 2025 ONLY: pre-season scrimmages! 🎉 Join us every Tuesday at 9:15 pm in September at the Soldotna rink for pre-season scrimmages. These scrimmages will be the drop-in rate of $20 per scrimmage for all skaters. Please register above and mark your availability on TeamSnap. These scrimmages are open to all Queens with at least one year of experience.

Beginner-friendly coed scrimmages - new this year! 🎉

These scrimmages will be the 3rd Tuesday of every month, beginning in October 2025, at 9:00 pm at the Kenai rink.

For Queens who are registered for the current session, these are included in your session fee. For any women who are not registered for the current session and for all men, the fee is the usual drop-in rate of $20 per scrimmage for all skaters. Goalies are free.

Important info for coed scrimmage participants:

  • You must be registered with the Queens - register here. You only need to register once per season.

  • Bring a light and dark jersey to the scrimmages.

  • We recommend full protective gear so that you may skate comfortably and safely. At minimum, we require hockey skates, a helmet with a cage, and a hockey stick.

Session schedules

Sundays, typically 4:00 - 6:15 pm, at the Kenai ice rink

  • Typically the first half is skills and drills, and the last hour is a practice scrimmage, designed to build upon the skills and drills.

Thursdays, typically 9:00 - 10:00 pm, at the Kenai ice rink

  • These are faster-paced scrimmages, Queens vs Queens. For the safety of all, first year players require coach approval before participating. Typically, the requirement is the ability to stop on skates.

Once registered, you will be added to TeamSnap which includes the current schedule. Please mark your availability on TeamSnap for each session, it really helps the team!

We also have other occasional scrimmages during the fall and spring sessions, such as against the Homer Divas or a holiday skate in December.

USA Hockey Numbers

Register here for a USA Hockey number ($61). This is separate from the Queens registration and is required. You’ll need to register for a new number every year as they expire every August regardless of when you registered.

USA Hockey is the national governing body for the sport of ice hockey in the United States. When you become a member you receive a personalized registration number. This registration number allows you to participate in sanctioned activities and includes insurance coverage for participants - but only if every single person on the ice is registered with USA Hockey. Complete the registration process here to get your USA Hockey registration number.

Loaner gear

The Queens have a limited supply of loaner gear available and can work with folks who need gear. If you need loaner gear, please let us know. There is a one-time fee of $100 to borrow gear from the Queens, and it will be refunded when the gear is returned.

If you’re looking for new or used gear, check out Red Line Sports in Kenai, Ak Sk8 Shop in Soldotna, Facebook Marketplace, Play It Again Sports in Anchorage, Champions Choice in Anchorage, local garage sales (including ours!), and gear swaps.

Please note you will need your own hockey skates. The Queens do not have any skates to loan and there are no long-term skate rentals in the Kenai-Soldotna area.
